Machinima - Live action filming, using a Second Life set, characters and extra archical footage filmed from a trip to Kashmir in 2005.
The word “Machinima” is a loose hybrid of the words “Machine” and
“Cinema” and is used to describe the process of creating real-time
animation by manipulating a videogame’s engine and assets.

South Australia - Desert film
Shot without a script - which was created later in Post.
The
atmos is an actual sound bite taken from of a rusted gate hinge, we sat
there, in the red soil, creaking this old gate on the perimeter of this
deserted settlers cemetery. The audio was later looped in Post with its
EQ amped boosted +6dB. No Dynamic based processing on this one.
IN
terms of editing, I think the footage was narrowed down to personal
moments, then loosely stuck together to see what flowed or din not flow.
The chronology of the story is driven by the loss of sunlight, the
sunset, twilight and finally the whopping 4.3minutes of a rising moon.
We're talking so bright white, a massive orb in the South Australian
desert, in late Summer. Big. Pendulous.

Street Photography / Reportage
Factors to consider when photographing music groups for Promo / Publicity
1. Meet the band and get a feeling for their music.
2. Location casting with a personal connotation that speaks volume about the band, has meaning to the audience - socially, culturally and lyrically to illustrate a running theme of the musical genre and style (in this case Drone, Grunge and Noise)
" Drone music is a minimalist musical style[2] that emphasizes the use of sustainedor repeated sounds, notes, or tone-clusters – called drones. It is typically characterized by lengthy audio programs with relatively slight harmonic variations throughout each piece compared to other musics. La Monte Young, one of its 1960s originators, defined it in 2000 as "the sustained tone branch of minimalism".

Shooting Digitally means you can take lots of photos, so go nuts.
Studio Photography with large light diffuser, Reflectors, Self Portrait.
Achieved with a tripod, timer and plenty of time. I varied lighting to my sitting positions.
2 upright stands with Umbrellas, 1 as Key 5 ft away and 1 as a Fill, set close to Lens axis to mimic natural shadows and be a flat frontal light.
2 shoot through Umbrellas as they give you a good mix between softness, efficiency and control.
by placing them really close to my face (in standard Fill positioning), this allowed for a soft-but-controlled light that works great for headshots.
1 backlight to diffuse background shadows
